Priyamani is all set for a grand comeback to Tollywood, long time after the release of Kshetram. The Panch Bhashya star's latest outing Charulatha is one of the much-hyped and most-awaited movies of 2012. It is a female-oriented film and experts from the industry say that she is sure to win the hearts of film goers.
Charulatha, which is directed by Pon Kumaran, is horror movie and it is inspired from the 2007 Thai movie alone starring pop singer Marsha Wattanapanich in the lead role. The movie is made simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, is the story of a conjoined twins. Priyamani is playing identical twins, while Malayalam actor Skandha appears as protagonist in the film.
Conjoined twins Charu and Latha
(Priyamani) grow together in Visakhapatnam under the motherhood of
Saranya Ponavannan. As they grow young, Charu wanted to separate from
Latha and lead a personal life. However, during the operation one dies
and another survives. Later on Charu (Priyamani) leaves to Srinagar to
marry her lover Ravi (Skanda). But Charu is made to come back Vizag by
the haunted ghost spirit of Latha. A series of incidents in their Vizag
house reveals a mysterious secret that Charu is dead before the
performance of surgery on these twins. Who caused frustration for Latha?
How is Ravi attached to the past of Charu and Latha? Whose soul is
exactly haunting, is it Charu or Latha?
PERFORMANCE
Priyamani has given a wonderful
performance as conjoined twins. She really rocks the viewers in both
sentimental and horror sequences. As her lover, Skanda has also done
good job. Other like Saranya Ponvannan, Seetha, Sai Sasi and Aarthi have
also done justice to their respective roles.
ANALYSIS
Charulatha, which is a female-oriented
film, is a perfect treat for the lovers of horror movies. Its rampant
sense of dread makes you take at least a few days to recover. It is the
show of Priyamani, who surely rocks film goers with her excellent
performance. Charulatha is a horror like movie and Priyamani’s
electrifying acting is the main attraction of the movie. The movie has
its own share of drawbacks and they are negligible.
Overall, Charulatha is horror like movie
and Pon Kumaran has done a commendable job in this remake. Moreover, it
is Priyamani, who steals the show. Her performance is worth three times
of your money.
