Much before the spat between Puri
Jagannath and Danayya has been officially settled, yet another big
ticket Tollywood film is surrounded by a controversy. The producers of
Rebel J Baghavan and Pulla Rao have officially lodged a written
complaint alleging that director Lawrence has exceeded the film’s
budget.
They alleged that Lawrence initially
promised the make the film (first copy) in Rs 22.5 cr but the film’s
budget has gone up to 40 cr. Rebel, which was released on September 28,
got a cold response from the audience. With the producers now filing a
written complaint against director Raghava Lawrence, the issue is now
being taken up by Producers’ Council.
As if there’s not enough drama, Lawrence
has lodged a written complaint against the producers at the Director’s
Association for selling the dubbing and remake rights of Rebel without
his notice. Lawrence alleges that the producers promised him to give the
dubbing rights but has sold without his notice.
