Suriya plays dual roles – Akhilan and Vimalan – in Maatraan. It is well known that Suriya draws inspiration for his roles from real life characters. When asked about the character Akhilan, Suriya said that he had never met a person like him in his life and hence had to think about the mannerisms and act it out.
Adding further, the actor said that he found it very difficult to essay that role in particular and has done full justice to it.
